Only bad news – or is there still more?
When my friends heard me saying that I was planning a trip to Bangladesh, they were all puzzled and asked, “why Bangladesh?” Yes, why did I want to visit Bangladesh, instead of India? It is because that I often learned of negative news about Bangladesh, yet I have known the kindest and gentlest people in Toronto who were originally from Bangladesh. I thought that there must be more than just bad news in Bangladesh, and I needed to go there to learn all about it myself. So, we did.
I did not know what to expect on this tour since I knew very little about the country. But, what we had experienced with Lonesome Traveler Tour was unique and personal. Holger was more than just our tour guide. Holger’s tour took us to places where typical commercial tours might not include in their itinerary, and Holger shared his own passion and love of Bangladeshi with us on this tour.
As we traveled through different cities and small villages, we were very much welcomed and embraced by the locals. We saw the locals living and coping with the harsh reality. We learned the traditional crafts and way of living still practicing in the farming villages. We surely observed the daily chaos unspokenly working well with mutual respect and understanding. We felt that life seemed to be extreme there, but it somehow carried a harmonic rhythm itself.
Without doubt, Bangladeshi are friendly and warm people, and the country has a lot to offer! And, we thanks Holger for an “absolutely Bangladeshi” experience for us to remember by!!!
