After the group came the solo trip – and the experience…
I can put it this way: in 2016 I was the vanguard. Or so: in 2016, my wife could not be persuaded to travel with me to Bangladesh. Granted, my ambition was my drive and this was to finally travel to the last country in Asia, which was still open on my world map. Expectations no, at that time anyway, surprise gigantic, even then. What I saw and experienced during my group trip completely took me by surprise. Never and never did I expect that and after a presentation of my experiences at home, my better half was in the right mood. However, Bangladesh “screamed” for a sequel and was the first country I visited again in such a short space of time. In order to be able to experience the whole thing more intensively and personally, we booked a 2.5 weeks private trip at the beginning of 2017. With Holger at our side, it has become one of our most beautiful journeys, through a country that could not be more contradictory with people who could not be happier.
Some attributes to our guide: sympathetic, entertaining, confident, educational, adventurous , experienced and sociable. Holger should just do what he does, he’s great at it!
And off we went. First we decided to go north, Lalakhal with the azure Sari River, Jaflon, Sylhet and a few days in Sunamganj. The lake district there, wonderful. By boat across the wetlands, around us birds, birds, birds – over thousands! Then the settlements and all the small villages with the super-neat inhabitants. No matter where we went, we were welcome everywhere and that’s how they wanted us not to let them leave… It went further south. With the Rocket and many cups of tea leisurely from Dhaka to Hularhat, from there to Kuakata, a small town on the Bay of Bengal. After a few days here on to Barishal, where we got to know the Venice of the East. For a day we crossed the river arms, have always put on the small villages and communities and enjoyed a beautiful nature. From Barishal, it was then again Dhaka, with the Sourovi 9, probably the largest of all passenger ships on the Meghna with a capacity of more than 2,000 passengers. Also an experience…
Anytime again! It was not a holiday, but a wonderful trip, in the true sense of the word with encounters in the foreground. Travel with all your senses – tank you for a real experience and see you next time!
Best regards and wishes, Manfred and Brigitte (January 2017)
